O SZTUCE
„Mazagan. Miasto” to prawdziwa historia twierdzy, która przepłynąwszy ocean, przewędrowała pomiędzy trzema kontynentami. Założona przez Portugalczyków u wybrzeży muzułmańskiego Maroka, została w XVIII wieku przeniesiona przez Lizbonę do Brazylii. „Mazagan” jest przede wszystkim opowieścią o wspólnocie, rozpisaną na sześć bezimiennych głosów wcielających się w rozmaite postaci. Dawna historia przeplata się z historią współczesnego narratora, dla którego dzieje miasta stają się pretekstem do rozważań o domu i bezdomności, o migracji, o tożsamości i budowaniu wspólnoty.

"Mazagan. The City” is a true story of a fortress which crossed the ocean and travelled across three continents. It was settled by the Portuguese at the Moroccan coast and, in the 18th century, transported with its inhabitants through Lisbon to Brazil. “Mazagan” is, in first place, a play about human beings forming a society. It casts six “persons speaking” who, within the course of the play, transform into numerous different characters. The historical plot is mixed with a story of a contemporary narrator, who treats the past events as a pretext for reflection on the meaning of home, homelessness, migration, identity and creation of a society.
